Our dedicated equine team covers the full range from companion donkeys through to racehorses and top-flight competition animals, and all will receive the best possible care and attention. We offer a full equine only out of hours service.
We can visit clients’ own stables to carry out examinations and treatment – or patients can be brought to our facility at Townhead Farm in Newbiggin for more involved investigation, treatment and aftercare. Our facilities include; 7 large stables, a theatre, 2 examination rooms and 18 grass paddocks.
We work closely with Vets in other referral centres and universities, as well as Farriers and Equine Physiotherapists to ensure the very best of treatment for all our patients.
Even the healthiest horse or pony needs to be seen by the vet from time to time. To keep yours in the best of health we can provide all the preventative health care they may need and investigate and treat any injuries or illnesses.

Our vets will investigate, diagnose and treat most cases at your own yard. More complex cases requiring extra facilities can be brought to our Newbiggin clinic.

Gastric ulceration is a common cause of poor performance, behavioral alteration and weight loss
We are able to offer 2 and 5 stage vettings and have a JMB certified measuring pad at our Newbiggin practice.
We are able to perform a number of surgical procdures at our Newbiggin practice under both general anesthesia and using standing surgical techniques.
All our equine vets are trained in performing dental examinations and treatment. For more complex procedures horses can be brought to our Newbiggin equine facilities.
We can perform upper and lower airway examinations using our portable digital endoscope to diagnose and manage airway disease.
We publish a quarterly newsletter and hold regular client evenings. We are always at the end of a phone line if you have any questions about your horse's health.
We work with several referral hospitals to ensure that your horse will receive the best possible treatment.
