Working from our base in Newbiggin, near Penrith, Cumbria, Paragon's Advanced Breeding team offer a number of specialist cattle advanced breeding services for their clients. Paragon started its cattle embryo service in 1993, and since then has expanded to work throughout Scotland and England, and even onto Jersey.
We were at the forefront of developing cattle IVF in the UK, which is delivered under the Activf-ET brand. In addition to this work we are also active in a number of research and development projects, working with partners in Nottingham, Kent, North America and Zimbabwe.
Paragon offer cow-side oocyte collection and IVF lab services as part of Activf-ET.
Flushing of embryos from donor cows is a well established technique for increasing offspring from the best cows.
We can transfer embryos into preprepared recipients nationwide.
We have trained bull semen collectors who can collect semen for processing into straws for AI, sale within the UK, or to preserve genetics for the future.
Trade in embryos is cost effective and biosecure. We have sent embryos throughout the world for our clients.
We hold regular training courses for on-farm artificial insemination of cattle, among other skills.
With a proven successful record of R&D, Paragon is involved in a number of ongoing projects at the cutting edge of our industry.
