Our Advanced Breeding Team based in Newbiggin, Penrith are looking for a proactive individual to join the team as Livestock and Operations Support.

Job Description:-
- Work together with colleagues including technicians and vets to ensure that residential ET/IVF programmes are carried out on time and to the highest standard.
- Assist with both OPU and DFR collection days including setting up the collection room (or packing the van for on farm work). Moving livestock to and from the collection room. Clearing up all equipment after these sessions. Ordering the consumables required for the cowside part of the collections to ensure there are adequate stocks at all times taking into account lead times for delivery. Some of the OPU/DFR days may be remote to the practice and could require overnight trips.
- Coordinate and communicate DFR and OPU schedules with the wider team.
- Responsible for operating the small generator owned by the practice for backing up the IVF lab in the event of a power failure, ensuring there is always a supply of fuel available for it and carrying out operational checks every 2 months
- Liaising with clients to ensure correct health tests have been carried out prior to cattle arriving and leaving residential facilities.
- Arranging logistics with hauliers and clients for cattle moving on/off residential facilities
- Arranging whole herd TB tests for residential facilities and pre-movement tests for outgoing donors.
- Accurate record keeping for all movements on/off residential facilities using BCMS.
- Liaising with team vets to ensure booking in checks are carried out for all cattle moving onto residential facilities.
- Working alongside the Large Animal Technician to provide day to day care of the residential cattle, including feeding, bedding, mucking out, pressure washing as necessary and monitoring stock closely for signs of disease. This will include driving the practice tractor.
- Assisting with the stock management of OPU drugs and consumables.
- Maintenance and monitoring of equipment.
- Assist with all relevant paperwork including ABC56/72, client registration & Terms and Conditions.
- Work closely with IVF Technicians, ET Technicians and Vets to ensure exceptional communication and client care is maintained.
- Follow & develop existing processes to promote Advanced Breeding services.
- Utilise opportunities to promote work and follow up with potential leads for work/new clients.
- Liaise with the Advanced Breeding Coordinator to ensure effective and efficient use of staff, facilities and time.
- Follow up on all existing enquiries.
- Take phone calls and establish an excellent rapport with clients.
- Assist with marketing opportunities within the Advanced Breeding department including attendance
